Siimet Oy's customer base consists of special transport companies, earthmoving companies, industrial companies and the armed forces.
Siimet Oy specialises in the design, manufacture and maintenance of special transport equipment and trailers for road and industrial use.
Comprehensive range of trailers
We offer a comprehensive range of special transport trailers. We manufacture semi-trailers, drawbar trailers, and material transfer trailers. We also deliver fully customised trailer solutions tailored to the customer’s needs. Additionally, we modify and equip used trailers of any make and provide outfitting for trucks.




Siimet over the years

1946
Aarne Siitari founded the company in Hankasalmi. The company's main products in the 1940s and 1950s were field buffers. The first pallet products were introduced in the late 1950s.
1959
The engineering plant burned down in Hankasalmi, after which the company decided to move Mikkeli.
1960
It started in Mikkeli, where the first small workshop was built.
The model range consisted mainly of ‘large-wheeled’ 2-axle trailers.
1965
The company specializes in heavy-duty trailers. From the late 1960s to the mid-1970s, typical models included 2-axle, 16-wheel heavy-duty trailers.
1975
The Siimet lavette brand gained a solid reputation among customers.
1975-1990
Siimet Oy is experiencing its ‘golden age’, with the Finnish road network being expanded at a record pace.
A legendary 3-axle 60-ton lowbed trailer was developed, becoming a bestseller. It remains in production to this day.
1990-1996
The recession of the early 90s in Finland almost completely shut down the trailer trade.
Machinery and equipment for sawmills were manufactured as replacement products. Service assignments were also carried out for other industries.
1996-2008
The business took off again with substantial investments and product development. New trailers and semi-trailers were produced in record numbers.
2008
Ari Mäkitalo took over as CEO of Siimet Oy.
2008-2010
The company launched new products while developing its international contacts.
2011
A successful generation and ownership change enables a new growth and development path.
2012-2013
An investment and product development initiative secured the company's competitiveness in an increasingly global world, and also secured jobs.
2013-2020
Steady growth according to established plans.
2020
Marko Tuhkalainen appointed new CEO, while Ari Mäkitalo appointed Chairman of the Board
2021
Cooperation begins and Siimet is the official Nooteboom representative and service station in Finland.
2024
The new ownership structure is off to a strong start, with plans to expand production facilities, among other things.
2025
Siimets' operations are developed with proactive commitment.
